Hello Lighthand,

Actually you will find many ingredients to prepare Chinese cuisine in most major supermarkets in Rio, they will be located on the specialty foods aisle usually.

You will probably find other ingredients such as Oyster Sauce, Lichee, etc., at the Municipal Market.

Thanks for the fast update William.

I will check it out once I'm there.

In Rio there are two Asian grocery stores in Flamengo, on Marques de Abrantes street, right by Praia de Botafogo street. They are across the street from each other and have better prices and a much wider selection than normal grocery stores. There is another in Copacabana, on Nossa Senhora de Copacabana street, relatively close to Ipanema (I don't know the cross-street). As far as I know there (sadly) is no municipal market here, though there is a fish market in Nitterói. Good luck!

Hi Solomo,

That is very helpful, as my current living choices are Flamengo, Ipanema and Gloria.

Cheers!
