I just completed the next steps you will have go through and I am heading back to the states tomorrow.

Once in Santo Domingo, I had to Irma a bank account, get a verification of account letter from the bank (DR$300 cost for me at Banco Popular), make sure your letter has a blue stamp with bank office number AND I had to get four photos (2x face-on, 2x right profile).

Once I had ALL that done, then I had my Immigration Attorney upload documents via General Migrac穩on website.

After that I waited about a week to get an appointment at the immigration office. You have to go there first, give them your photos and then they give you a factura (invoice) and approval for your health screening at an approved lab. I went to GLOBULAB and my health screening was the same day as my interview a Migrac穩on.

That part of the process was smooth for me as a representative my attorneys office was with me for both appointments.

It depends. It will depend on type of residency. It will depend if everything is complete and correct. And sometimes it depends who is representing you.

There are two waiting times - from online submission of your application to your actual appointment to complete your application (a couple of days to many months), and then processing time from that appointment until your residency is approved. That second wait is normally 3-6 months.

Just to clarify, the approves your visa (submitted through the consulate), but the issues residency. The US does the same, with the State Department issuing visas and USCIS (Citizenship and Immigration Services, part of Homeland Security) issuing green cards.

It is not unusual to be told something is wrong or something is missing or something is expired or something else is needed.
