Indian planning to marry a Colombian

ranjanj4

I am from India but I am living in US for almost 2 years from now. I met my girlfriend in US and we have been in relationship for almost 1.5 years. My girlfriend used to work in US but she has to go back to Colombia because her work visa expired. Now we are planning to get married in Colombia and based on my visa status I want to bring her in US on F2 visa. I tried to find about my situation on internet but I could not find a single person in the same situation as mine.

Can anyone help me what should I do in this situation so that we wont face any problem in future in terms of US visa rules and regulations.

Leave her in Colombia and commute, that is what I do. I doubt that you are able to do a sponsorship from the US.

@loaferln Lol, "commute" ;?D, but I believe you're right, if the OP isn't a US citizen I don't see how he can sponsor her in any way even once they're married, but then I don't know what kind of visa he's in the states under, but imo it's best he get legal advice from some agency that knows all the ropes.

I would think he would have to be a green card holder at the very least and meet the min income threshold. I suspect all that information is on the State Department website.

thanks @loaferln @cymerax for your response. So, I agree that I wont be able to sponsor her but I can definitely bring my spouse to US on dependent visa. My current visa status is F1 and dependent of F1 is goona be F2. I believe she can stay in US as long as I will be here but there will be some restriction on her visa status like work restriction.
