Renting an apartment- newcomer in Brazil

Priyaexplora

Hi forum members,

I have recently moved to Brazil. I have my RNE already, but dont have a credit history in Brazil. Till now I have been managing with Airbnb. But now I want to sign an yearly contract for an apartment. Can someone please guide me on how I can go about renting in Brazil without a guaranter or a credit score?

If you have an RNE and CPF you should have got a bank account, a basic credit card, and a cell phone account on day two. In 12 months Serasa should have a good enough credit score on record for you to expand your credit access. I've  been here permanently for 4 months, and mine is over 600 already. You start at 200.

If you didn't do this, from what I have read here on this site is that you'll need a guarantor. Have you looked at aparthotels on a month to month basis as a BNB alternative until you have a credit profile ?

Good luck.

thanks for your response. I am managing with Airbnb but want an annual apartment contract now to settle down. About Seresa score, do I need to register somewhere for Seresa? Regards, Priyanka

You do not need to register. Serasa automatically accumulates data from your purchases and credit applications and payment histories all thru your CPF.

You can check your score for free online at their site.
