J1 American income + J2 French income

tomtom66

Hello everyone.

My wife (J1 visa) and I (J2) are going to the USA for a year. My wife will be working there and I have a freelance activity in France for clients in France. I will continue to work remotely for my clients.

We are married and we are both French. I understood that we will be non-residents thanks to the J1 exception. My income in France will not be taxed in the USA.

My wife will have American income and we will have to declare her income there (right?).

How will our declaration in the USA work? Should I mention my income in France? Same question for our declaration in France, should it include my wife's American salary?

Thank you !
