Dutch Unemployment Benefits

LRos

Dear all,

I'm currently planning a big move to NYC to marry my high school sweetheart. (Fun fact: I was an exchange student 18 years ago, and after 12 years apart, we've reconnected and fallen in love again!)

As part of this, Im preparing to apply for a green card and work authorization in the U.S. However, Im still employed in the Netherlands (Im a German citizen) and have been with the same company for the past 8 years. I could potentially end my contract on mutual terms, making me eligible for unemployment benefits, which could be a big help while I'm not yet able to work in the U.S.

Does anyone know if receiving unemployment from the Netherlands while applying for a U.S. green card is possible? And where can I find more information on this?

Id be incredibly grateful for any advice or leads you could share.

Thanks so much in advance!
