Hello all,

good day.

kindly provide me with below details - I will be moving to muscat soon on work visa.

we are of Indian nationality.

1) I want to bring my spouse along with me and what kind of visa can I apply?

2) once I get my resident card, can I immediately transfer visa to my wife for resident status? What steps needs to be followed assuming she is already inside muscat with visa as in (1) above?

Dear Arvind,

As you said, you are moving to Muscat soon on a work visa, which means you will get residence status in Oman.

Now, the question is for your spouse.聽 If you have residence status in Oman and your salary is above 150 OMR, your spouse will also get residence status.聽 Usually, this will be provided by your sponsor or company.

If you want to bring your spouse along with your first entry to Oman, you can apply for a visit visa, which you can request through your current company.

Once you get the resident card in Oman, you can start the process of obtaining resident status for your family.聽 The formality is the attestation of your marriage certificate, a passport-size photo with a white background, a medical certificate, and a minimum 6-month validity passport.聽 Residence status can be obtained in one week's time by the PRO of your organization.

If your spouse is in Oman with you, you can get a medical certificate from ROP-approved medical centers in Oman otherwise approved centers in your country, India. (Please note that I am not sure that your spouse needs to have any exit from Oman to transfer from Visit visa to a resident visa.)
