Hello did he get married in Kuwait ?

It (polygamy) is considered illegal and punishable under Philippine law to have 2 wives/husbands

Instead of asking here, perhaps you should ask that lady to prove legality of the marriage.

And for people who want to do this, there are always ways around it.  For example, he could have converted to Islam on paper and conducted a shariah marriage.  That doesn't require proof of being single in most muslim countries as shariah allows for 4 wives.  But as I said, all of this discussion is academic.  Someone made a claim and you should ask them to prove it.

simply put - even if he did not convert, there is a possibility of him marrying another wife - instead of just sweeping it under the ol' "Islam permits 4 wives"...

think about it - in a foreign country, he can marry in a court of law, that requires witnesses, and the presence of both parties. unless he were to go and notarise his marriage certificate in the embassy of the philippines, where they would run a background check (not sure if they would), then it would not be flagged on any system.

so long as he was not married in the phillippines, it will be permissable - is it legal according to phillippines law? ofcourse not. how can you prove it? get a copy of their marriage certificate which would show that yours predates it, and that you are not divorced.

is the other party trying to extort money from you? or claim his money as her own?

Are you also living in Kuwait? If it is a matter of inheritance, I believe your best bet is to hire a lawyer and get this sorted out. asking on a forum will only lead to confusing answers from people who do not know the full story.
