Winter in southern Spain

bhc752013

Due to poor health I need to move to a warmer climate in the winter, there would be my wife and I plus to small dogs. We need a small property away from the towns With one bedroom and a small garden. Can anyone help or at least point us in the right direction, who to contact, where are the best rural areas. Any help much appreciated.

You will also need to look into getting a visa as well.

Spain has a lots of warm places, lots of nice places, and plenty of countryside properties. Many foreigners want to be on/near the beaches, some very popular zones are around Tarragona/Barcelona (Costa Brava), Alicante/Valencia (Costa Blanca), Malaga/Marbella (Costa del Sol). However, there are plenty of super non-beachy places too with mountains and National Parks, especially Murcia to inland Andalucia with Granada/Cordoba/Seville.

Idealista (a very big property site) is good for research as it has lots of listings all over Spain, and you can quickly see what you can get for your budget in different places.

If you're OK with less than 3 months in winter you can stay visa-free with your UK passport. For longer, you'll need a residence visa such as the popular NLV (for pensioners and anyone with savings/passive income). You don't need to be a resident to search for and buy a vacation property (just your NIE).

We're next to Alicante now (UNESCO-listed Elche) and we're very happy here. There are many nice little villages/towns and pretty beaches nearby. Previously, I was up the mountains of Catalonia's Pyrenees. Completely different, but also delightful.

Thanks for all your information, what I really need is a list of letting agencies that cover southern Spain. Are there agencies that help rent out holiday homes in the winter? Any information will be much appreciated.

Sadly either gwynjor, myself or anyone aren't allowed to recommend businesses on the open forum.

I hope therefore someone maybe able to send you a PM message.

Southern Spain gets cold in the winter. In fact, colder inside homes than outside sometimes. If you require a warm winter--Canaries are warmer.
