Non Norwegian speaking family considering moving to Oslo, Norway

Rohaiza

Hi Friendly people,

I am considering an offer to work in Oslo, Norway for a 12 months contract.

Just want to know about schooling for kids. Apart for International School which will cost very high, what other options do i have in terms of public school in Oslo. My kids can converse in English but not the native language. Will they be able to be accepted into Public School? or International School is my only option.

Appreciate the help.

As long as you have a residence permit in Norway and then a social security number your kids from 6 years and older can attend for free the Norwegian school. Teaching is in Norwegian, some schools offer the International Baccalaureate (IB) but this is for high school only. Aside the International School, there is a French and a German school which are also not free.
