I don't think Norwegians start school so young here, so at least she won't have missed anything when she starts in a public school. I think the public schools are okay. If I had a child though, I'm not sure I would want to put her/him in a Norwegian public school. That's just my personal preference though, and a hypothetical point.

Is it Sandvika or Sandviken you're moving to?  Sandvika is near Oslo, Sandviken is in Bergen.

Norwegians start school aged six, now, and all children have the right to be taught their own/home language.  So if your home language is English, then your child should get special English classes as well.  If your home language is another language (say, Arabic), then I'm not sure if you could get the special English lessons.  I know that in Bergen there are English-speaking play groups, and I'm sure there are ones in the Oslo area as well.

I haven't looked at other international schools, but the international school in Bergen is no better and no worse than the other schools in Bergen.  The deciding factor in how well your child does in school, at the end of the day, is how much interest you as a parent take in their schooling.

moving to sandvika-oslo,and we dont have long term plan in norway, may be 2 or 3 years, so my concern is we will be disturbing her school education, i mean she will study norwegian and after sometime if move to another country she will hav problem with the studies...so im going to give up the move to norway...

Hi.

Your daughter will start school in the August of the calendar she turns 6 years old. So August 2015.

Take a look at the Asker International School website () & fees.

The school fees for 2013 will be 10595NOK for term 1 (August-December).

They are much less than Oslo International School & less than you would expect for a private school.

As you only intend to stay in Norway I highly recommend this school, with it being an English speaking school. Then your daughter can continue her studies.

Asker Interantional School is just a 5 minute train ride then 5 minute bus ride away from Sandvika.
