No Jobs In Malta?

SoullessOnyx

Hey, so I really want to move to Malta and I was talking to my Dad on the phone earlier and I said to him I have been thinking of moving to Malta when I am a bit older and he said I think everyone would love to live somewhere nice and hot but in Malta there are not many jobs, he said there are more jobs in England then Malta, okay I understand that part as Malta is a small country.

But the reason I take his word for that is because my Dads mum and Dad are in Malta now for there holiday they go there like 3 times a year and that is probably where he got the no jobs out there thing.

I just want to know hopefully from people that live and work in Malta is it really that hard to get a job and actaully live in Malta by yourself?

I am going to be starting an IT course soon so that will open a few more jobs to me.

It depends on what you want to do. What interests you? I remember you mentioned you play computer games - if it interests you (big IF) then why not either study at home some decent IT skills (there are loads of resources on the internet now) and if you're really interested, learn programming (almost any language). Again, there are resources on the internet to help you - all you need is to be interested (you'll never properly learn if you're not half interested in the subject) and the time to do it.

When I left school I wanted to get a computing job, but it was difficult to get my foot in the door. There were 150 companies in Edinburgh with computer "departments" (I found out from the library) and I wrote a letter to the IT manager at them all - got 2 interviews and got a (junior) job as a result - worked my way up and now own multiple IT companies. I believe in working hard, never giving up and making your own destiny!

I admire you for having the ambition to move away from everything you know - thats half the battle. Now teach yourself the skills that will ensure you get a decent job here in Malta!

You're only eighteen years old. What about your further education ?

There are Jobs in Malta for the right people with the right qualifications.

Get the qualification, study hard and then the world is your oyster not just Malta.

I'm ex Royal and Merchant Navy and did not go back into education until early 30's and graduated in 1996 with a 2-1 degree in IT but wish I had studied harder at school and got my qualifications earlier.

The underlying message here and what everyone else is saying, your young, get the qualifications you need then get the experience...

Best of Luck...

Or do what a lot of us did and join a branch of HM forces then you can Travel, get a good education and be self reliant. A good wage and good friends, what more can you ask from life?
