How exciting!  Our Greek Village Cohousing group has tours to Crete, as we are picking a plot or renovation and building a cohousing village there.  Cohousing is a design movement that began in Denmark and is very popular in many countries- there are always waitlists.  You have private homes but generously shared commons, including a Common House where you cook and eat together a few times a week. You plan out and build your own village with others, bond with them this way, and have a strong sense of belonging once you move in.  We have a Greek Village Cohousing website if you want to see our tour dates.

Hello I live in Crete,  in Chania. You should be very careful with real estate agencies if you are looking for property. There is a website which can help you although many real estate agencies post there.

Also, there is a local newspaper for Chania. It's called haniotika nea

With the right application you can translate the ads.

Feel free to drop me a message. I do not represent any company.

Thanks for the tips (I already had the spitogatos app on my mobile phone) espcially the Chania newspaper online, and Google Chrome is always translating foreign languages newspapers automatically for me in French,,, so I saw that the first ad is for a 200 square meters villa at 800 000 euros... as expensive as in France or Australia !

But on the rental side of things I saw some houses rents dropped by 18$ yesterday (Messenia, down to 450 per month for a house)

I was looking also at rentals in Sitia and Ierapetra (last one has a hospital which is comforting for a 76 years old like me) and it is possible to find apartements and houses in the 300 to 600 euros per month rent)
