Advice for transport Athens to Corfu

Phaedrus157

Dear Greek Forum,

I'm aware that there is a ferry from Igoumenitsa Greece to Corfu but also that there is a ferry from Saronde Albania to Corfu. I'm wondering whether it is better to take the bus/ferry from Athens to Corfu or to travel via Athens to Saronde then take the ferry from there which appears a shorter ferry ride? Are there any issues with crossing the border into Albania then back again into Greece to get to Corfu?

It appears there may be a bus line, Green Bus, and that there may even be a direct bus which drives onto the ferry. Does anyone have experience with this trip? We don't want to fly as we enjoy seeing the country and the travel through the towns.

Thanks in advance,

Phaedrus

Going to Saranda (AL) first and then take a ferry (actually will be a boat not a ferry from Saranda to Corfu) will work fine but take longer...

Just drive to Igoumenitsa (GR) and then hop on a ferry to Corfu. Overall will be much shorter.

Thanks to all for your responses, we have booked our journey already, and yes, through Igoumenitsa.
