Normally studies count as 1/2 so 2 years=1 year. In this case you need one more year to complete 5 years

What type of residence permit you do you have currently ?

SimCityAT

More information can be found here

@Edigj Thank you, I have card A, but is it for sure that student stay counts for half in Belgium? I did 120ECTS, and I read that each 60 ECTS is equal to 256 days of work so in total in these two years I have 2 years of work, am I mistaken?

Theking123

@SimCityAT I can't see anything in this website.. do you have any idea if students stay in Belgium is considered full or half towards the nationality? because I didn't see any place that says its half except some forums

Edigj

There is nothing mentioned in the nationality law about university credits. It is just mentioned that study years count but just half. You also have a mayor obstacle. The permanent residency which is a prerequisite for nationality.

Your A card is temporary residence. First you must obtain card B, L or H and and then you become eligible to declare the Belgian nationality.

@Edigj but actually I read the law and it says:

La durée de la formation professionnelle ou des études suivies au cours des cinq dernières années précédant la demande et ayant abouti à l’obtention d’un diplôme ou d’un certificat est déduite de la durée de l'activité professionnelle requise sur présentation des attestations de fréquentation

1 année scolaire = 182 jours de classe = 182 jours de travail

1 année académique = 60 crédits ECTS = 236 jours de cours = 236 jours de travail = 1800 heures

1 journée d’école = 1 journée de travail

It means if I have performed two years of studies it will be similar as if I worked two years am I correct?

I'm curious where did you take this text from? :) I also understand that it is half time (I asked this to a lawyer)

@Edigj  Or F card?

richeekdey3

@Natalita55 Even if you're on an F card; you should've at least lived for 5y to be eligible.

@richeekdey3 Thanks . If someone can see his/her nationality certificate with itsme but with card login is not possible .So with nationality certificate its confirm that  nationality has been granted. Card certificates have been revoked before  . Does anyone know if we can apply passport first ? what is cost and time ? For example if applicant is planing holidays in few days  ? Thanks !

Edigj

@muhammd shafiq

You should expect an invitation letter first for applying for ID. They sent this because ID is mandatory to all Belgian citizens.

But when applying for ID you can apply both passport & ID on the same time. Usually Passport is very fast, It took me 4 days.

ID took around 2 weeks as I needed to wat for PUK+PIN and go and collect it
