The other side of the Martinican postcard

Julien

Hi,

As a tourist in a foreign country, very often, we are enchanted with what we discover.

Living abroad is different. It's a rich experience but there are also some difficulties to face.

When people ask me for advice on living abroad, I then tend to say that one should also look at both sides of the postcard.

As an °µÍø½ûÇø in Martinique, how would you describe the two sides of your Martinican postcard?

Thank you for sharing your experience,

Julien

From a personal point of view:

Pros: People, nature, flowers, topography, public beaches, infrastructure, service, living on the countryside while still be living close to a town :-)

Cons: Haven't found anything yet. Of course there has been a few challanges on the path, but it all comes down to your own attitude. Bank system is weird, but just accept it and it won't piss you off :-)

We have been on the island since June 2013, and are very happy to be here. People have been great to us, helpful and understanding. Got a few very good friends, and their families have been very including.

I work off the island, and I have started to think; why do I leave for work? :-) Need to look into starting a business, I think :-)

A lot of people we've met speaks a little english, and we are learning more french, so we've given ourselves 3 years to integrate. I truly belive we're gonna make it :-)
