Security System Installation

DRCulture

Hi Everyone,

I am looking for some suggestions of who could install security cameras for me. I have Blink and Nest cameras, but I am not committed to using them if there is a better suggestion from the person who would be doing the installation. In addition, I would like to have some locks put on the doors (the type that are used in Airbnb's or rental property). I am thinking a brand August locks that just get added to the current dead bolt. And finally, I would like someone that could install security shades/sliders. I am not sure what they are called, but they close electronically (maybe it's hurricane shutters). The area is North Coast near Gaspar Hernandez.

Hi,

Please make sure that the person that installs covers all blind spots with the cameras, also putting up a wifi camera somewhere up in a tree or install a very tall pole where it can monitor the property as a whole and cannot be tampered with and is completely seperate from your recording system you can also view it from your phone. I am a retired US Marshal on a federal level and do some high level security advising, I also do information technology programming which means i can set and program high security passwords secure your wifi and router system. Most importantly i can make sure your system cannot be tampered with or hacked.

I would love to do the work for you , unfortunately I am in the U.S and right now cannot afford the trip. My wife is from Moca and we have a home there as well. I have many ideas and thoughts about your project but its way to much to write, if you have any questions you can email me anytime.

Welcome to the forums. Before we can recommend anyone we need to know where this will happen! Thanks

I can speak to Blink camera systems - they are great and inexpensive. We use them 24 hours a day outside our home in Orlando and they are totally wireless. Just replace the lithium battery about once a year. We have them wired here (because we are in a condo) in the DR and we can see both systems from anywhere there is Internet.

I too have blink cameras, and the battery replacement cycle is not a black-and-white issue. It has more to do with the time that the cameras activated at an absolute bare minimum I would replace them once a year you may need to replace them more often again based on how often the camera is activated as to the comments about a federal Retired security official. I like the idea I think it will come down to what works for you and your budget.

Be very careful with who you hire to install a security system! There are some individuals working with these companies who will case your home during the installation and work with criminals on how to get around the system, how to disable alarms, etc. The American 做厙輦⑹ who was killed in LT last year was a victim of a ring working with the installer.

We could be so much more helpful if OP told us the location!

@nulookrei

Thank you for the recommendations and offer to provide information. I would definitely like to connect!!

@planner

It is a house. I did already say it was North Coast near Gaspar Hernandez. If a little more specifics are needed, it is Las Canas (right next door to Gaspar).

(Look of horror on my face) I will do my best to proceed with caution!!!

Installing security cameras and smart locks can provide peace of mind. Regarding the cameras, you might want to check out a doorbell camera. It's user-friendly and offers excellent features.

@nulookrei Hi. I live in Moca in Los Caceres and I am building a house about 6 minutes from here in Beverly Hills area. My son-in-law is what Icall a master electrician with his own company and very versed in virtually all things electronic. However, you make points that interest me and hearing from someone in english would enhance understanding & perhaps lead to an engagement to slightly upgrade. SO, perhaps we might meet when you are back in Moca. I must state that I willbe returning to Alberta Canada sometime in January and will be remaining there fo a mininmum of 9 weeks to finish off medical Employment Insurance claim.

Do not overestimate the deterrent function of camera's, thieves care less about them nowadays. Who will get them when they're gone and the loot is gone anyway? If you get a warning it would be best to have/notify someone very close to the property, someone who will react immediately...

Someone in the family had all their outside camera's stolen. On an other occation their TV and that was an inside job; security had the keys and gave them to someone "who knew" the family. The security got fired. This is in a gated community.

I am seriously breaking my head how to secure my house without putting hierro and camera's everywhere, sitting in my house like a paranoid prisoner!

I think I will focus on the property surrounding walls, the front of the house, a pair of solar battery PIR lights, maybe a camera up high and some dog signs... I will not sit behind bars on my terrace.

Everyone seems to have bars on all windows and doors. Where do you get them? Are they all custom made?

2VPsoldier

I will have cameras high on metal posts that are on top of the 8 ft hight corner of property wall that will also have three strands of electrified wire but no bars. Properly signed & with a dog inside should be good. I guess at one time and perhaps still in some areas, thieves had the means to get to not only second but third floors.

Bars are readily available, premade or made to order

You can check out this one as an example: doorbell camera. As for the smart locks, August locks are indeed a popular choice for convenience and security. They're relatively easy to install and can work with your existing deadbolts. For the security shades or electronic shutters, it might be a good idea to consult a local contractor or security specialist who can assess your specific needs and provide recommendations based on your location and requirements.

Hello everyone-

Im looking to see if anyone knows if the Ring Doorbell works down here. Obviously the response service isnt available but I just want to monitor it via internet and watch the recordings. Anyone????

@2VPsoldier

On your electric wires, make sure you have "warning signs" posted throughout the property of the electric wires in Spanish

In the DR they have been known if anyone gets shocked to seek damages (money) especially from 做厙輦⑹s!

@Bugbudy

Should work fine as.long as you have electricity and internet
