Reporting a Death

WiredTight

I recently found out the a Friend of a Friend has cancer. His remaining days most likely are measured in days, if not months. From what I been told, he's had a long, adventurous life, and he's as positive as he can be.

I consider myself a healthy individual, with many more years to go, but... you never really know when your time is up.

Currently I've notified family members on the other side of the world, the contact info for the Embassy, apartment owner, and a good close friend if anything was to happen to me. The only real property that i have worth anything...is the 800K sitting Bangkok Bank account.

Does any have experience with reporting a death, or what procedures have you taken if...you were to pass on...how would your family - love one put your affairs in order, etc...

Sorry for the bummer of a topic.

It's an important topic that we don't always think about.

As for your friend was his body taken care of?

I imagine there are procedures for this event

Sorry to hear of your loss. If it's any consolation it

sounds like he lived well

Thanks for your reply. The friend in question is still alive, and I'm told he's looking into catching a flight back to the US.

I guess what I would like to know... what are the procedures when a foreigner dies in Thailand ???

If I was to get hit by a car or motorcycle crossing the road, or...air pollution... I'd like to think at some point the Thai police would step in, they would contact the embassy, the embassy would then contact your family members on the other side of the world. How would your remains be released to be returned, and I guess a couple steps down the line... how would the 800K in  the bank then be released back to my heirs ???

I guess I'll shoot off an email to the embassy, maybe they'll reply with something.

US embassy webpage does seem to answer a lot of question.

Never done that

This for Reporting the death of a Danish person.

Call our Embassy, Was told to E-Mail a copy of front passport of the person that dead, and copy of death certificate.

And to all so EMS Passport & death certificate to the Danish Embassy.

Embassy ask if you (Me) contact / Notify the next-of-kin, And if not then Denmark take care of that part.

When the Embassy give the information to Denmark, Everything is very automatic and fast.

All i help was married to a Thai girl, And was burn here in Thailand.

All money from bank, social pension, private pension and insurance in Denmark was send to the widow in short time frame.

And everything in Thailand the widow all so got.

@WiredTight

I live 6 months in Thailand and 6 months in France.

I have already written an informal will so that my eldest son, who lives in France, can handle the situation in case of a serious issue or even my death. It outlines what he should do if I pass away in France or in Thailand.

Additionally, he can contact my Thai girlfriend via WhatsApp, and I can contact my girlfriend’s eldest daughter through the same means.
