Getting more than 6 month/year on a foreign car

yoursnotred

I'm a student at AUI and wanted to get a car here, although, usually you only get 6 months per calendar year. Import duties are way too high, and cars here are expensive, so I would like to get my car in here and not have to register it in Morocco. I have dual citizenship with Morocco being one of them if that helps at all. Even if it's 12 months and then I have to leave, I don't really care, so long as I can keep my car here and use normally.

Thanks in advance.

Hi unfortunate, you won't be able to keep the car more than 6 months in any 12 month period in morocco without paying the import and taxes. Unless your a diplomat or a person working for embassy of such then special licence plate is given where you don't pay any taxes and can keep the car in Morocco as long as you have the appropriate permit.

For students or regular workers the rules are 6 months in any given 12 month period. So it would mean you will have to take the care back out and not bring it back for a further 6 months before you can legally bring it back in under the same process.

Hope this helps.  Feel free to ask any further questions.

Hi! We are moving from Australia to Marrakesh to live next year. Can someone please tell me the current price of petrol and what it costs to register a car for a year please.

Leo S.38

I find Its a lot cheaper to do a deal with your favourite and most helpful Indrive driver here than paying the depreciation and cost of bringing a car to Morocco.

@Leo S.38 thanks for your answer, I am wanting to buy a car in Morocco, is it a very expensive thing? What is the price of registration for a year please.

If I get a car, one year later i should get my Morocco licence, do you know if I can have a translator at my test? Thanks!! :)

@yvetteghajari, If you don't have a someone in Morocco who speaks the local language then you will definitely need one. (Not only language, but also how they do things over there is way different than what you custom to here in Australia).

Me too, I am planning to move to Tangier Morocco from Melbourne Australia in about 2 months from now. I am also planning to purchase a car in Morocco, which my father in-law will help me to..
